The Lord never fails to give his peace and love. If we just shift our focus upward we will see the future prosperous plans He has for us.
I tried an intriguing exercise in a book I read years ago. Unfortunately, I cannot remember what the book is called. But the exercise went like this: First, right where you are, imagine your future. Think about specific areas of your life: relationships, finances, career, etc. Then, note some of the worries and fears that might have colored your daydream.
Now, do the same thing while looking up. I’ll do it with you.
Any difference? The difference is as distinct to me today as it was so long ago.
When you look up, the imagery and thoughts about your life are nothing but positive. Cool, huh? It’s no coincidence that we first humble ourselves before God in repentance, and then look up for his joy, guidance and grace.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).
Where are you looking today?
